Broadcasting Blunder Steals Spotlight as India’s Scorecard Appears During Pakistan-Bangladesh Test in Dhaka
A major broadcasting blunder during the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Dhaka went viral after India’s scorecard was mistakenly displayed instead of Pakistan’s Playing XI. The incident sparked a flood of memes on social media, while Najmul Hossain Shanto’s rapid century and Mominul Haque’s 91 guided Bangladesh to a commanding performance.
The incident occurred at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium after Pakistan won the toss and elected to field in the opening Test. As broadcasters prepared to display Pakistan’s Playing XI, viewers were instead shown India’s scorecard, featuring a completely unrelated lineup of players.
The mistakenly displayed Indian team included Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Jitesh Sharma, Rinku Singh, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh and Mukesh Kumar. The unexpected graphic appeared during the live telecast, replacing what should have been the official team combination for Pakistan in the ongoing Test match against Bangladesh.
Although the video clip of the error was later removed from social media platforms, screenshots and photographs of the moment were quickly captured by fans and widely circulated online. The unusual mistake soon became the subject of a meme fest, with cricket enthusiasts posting jokes and humorous reactions across various platforms.
Despite the widespread attention generated by the incident, the broadcasters have not issued any official clarification regarding how the incorrect scorecard was aired during the live broadcast.
While the broadcasting blunder dominated online discussions, Bangladesh produced an impressive performance on the field. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with a brilliant century, while Mominul Haque made a valuable contribution of 91 runs.
Shanto reached his ninth Test century in only 129 deliveries, striking 12 boundaries and two sixes to delight the home crowd at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
The incident has become one of the most memorable broadcasting mistakes in recent cricket history, combining an embarrassing technical error with an outstanding batting display that ensured the opening Test in Dhaka was unforgettable both on and off the field.
